[Game Title] — GMTK Game Jam 2026 Submission

Theme: Countdown

Tagline

A single ticking clock, three chances to stay ahead of it — defuse the bomb before time runs out, and every mistake costs you seconds you don't have.

About the Game

You're staring down a live countdown timer with no way to stop it — only to stall it. Work through a sequence of tense, hands-on defusal challenges, each one buying you precious extra seconds if you get it right, and costing you the run entirely if you don't.

The challenges:

  • Plug the Cable — drag the loose connector into its socket to bring the panel online
  • Keypad — memorize a flashed code before it disappears, then re-enter it under a ticking local clock
  • Switch Panel — flip switches to match a hidden target state per switch, but stay alert: partway through, one target silently flips sides, so a switch you already solved can go wrong again without warning

Solve all three before the master countdown hits zero and you win. Fail any single challenge, or run out of time, and it's game over.

Controls

  • Mouse — click and drag to interact with the cable, keypad buttons, and switches
  • No keyboard input required

How It Fits "Countdown"

The whole game is built around a single shared countdown clock that never stops ticking in the background — every mechanic exists in service of that clock, either buying time back through successful challenges or losing it through failure. The tension isn't just "finish the puzzle," it's "finish the puzzle before the number runs out," with the timer itself staged as a physical, visible element on the bomb model at all times.
